These are questions that are more common than others. In this section of frequently asked questions we hope that we can save you some time by anticipating what we think you might want to know about. If you can't find your answer here please post your question so that we can address the questions you have.

Question: Does shaving, clipping and cutting hair make it grow back faster, darker and coarser ?

Answer: No, whether you shave hair or cut the hair there is no effect on hair growth

Question: Does a scalp massage increase hair growth ?

Answer: There is no evidence that any type of stimulation or scalp massage increases hair growth. Minoxidil and finasteride are the only treatments that have been proven by the FDA to increase hair growth.

Question: Is gray hair coarser and more resistant than colored hair ?

Answer: Other than the lack of color, gray hair is exactly the same.

Question: Is it true that the amount of natural curl you have is determined by your race ?

Answer: Anyone of any race or mixed race can have hair from straight to extremely curly. It is true that individuals have hair with different degrees of curliness.

Question: What happens if I use box color from the grocery store and mess up my hair ?

Answer: Do not reapply another box color to fix it or allow a friend to work on your hair to repair the damage. Visit your salon and see your stylist as soon as possible. It is always recommended to see your stylist if

you’re interested in color.

Question: Is it true the more you trim your hair, the faster it grows ?

Answer: Another one of those frequently asked questions on hair but if you trim your hair often it is only shorter. You should get dead ends cut. The average person gets their hair cut every 4-6 weeks to maintain

and every 6-12 weeks if you’re growing it out.

Question: Are the professional products at the grocery store the same ones you’d find in the salon ?

Answer: Not always, many times the professional products at the grocery store have been tampered with. I will always recommend getting your products from your stylist.

Question: My hair is falling out, what is this ?

Answer: It could be a number of things such as genetics, age, hormonal changes, stress, change in appetite, excessive weight gain or loss, medicine, emotions, pregnancy, etc. Hair naturally sheds 40-100 strands of hair a day. If you feel you’re losing more than that see your physician.

Question: I wash my hair everyday, is that okay ?

Answer: You shouldn’t be shampooing your hair everyday. It should be every other day or longer. Shampooing everyday strips the hair of it’s natural oils that help condition the hair. I recommend on days that you

don’t shampoo, but feel oily, use baby powder or bumble and bumble’s hair powder. It helps absorb the oil leaving you with fresh feeling hair that doesn’t look oily.

Question: What is dandruff ?

Answer: The medical term for dandruff is pityriasis. Dandruff is a scalp disorder that consists of small white scales that usually flake onto the hair and scalp. See your physician if you think you have dandruff. Dandruff can only be treated by a medicated shampoo and antiseptic lotion.

Question: How do I figure out what cut is going to look good for or with my facial type ?
