Hair Brushes

Hair brushes and combs come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes to adapt to the many styling options.

Combs

(1) The length and spacing of the teeth may vary from one comb to another(2) Teeth that are closely spaced remove definition from the curls and create a smooth surface (3) Widely spread teeth shape larger sections of hair for more surface texture(4) Combs with picks at one end lift the hair away from the head adding volume.

Different types of combs:

Wide tooth combs

Fine tooth tail comb (also known as rat tail comb)

Styling comb with metal pins

Regular comb (fine and wide tooth)

Teasing Comb

Brushes

(1) When choosing a styling brush, take into account the texture, length and styling needs of your hair.

(2) Brushes like combs come in many shapes and sizes.

Types

(1) Classic Styling Brush: half rounded rubber based brush with smooth round-ended nylon quills (bristles). Ideal for smoothing and untangling.

(2) Paddle Brush: large, flat base. Great for medium and longer length hair. The best designs have ball – tipped nylon pins that have a staggered pattern. This brush will not snag the hair

(3) Grooming Brush: Generally oval with pure natural bristles. The boar bristles help distribute the scalp oils throughout the hair shaft adding shine.

(4) Vent Brush: Ventilated design, helps decrease the amount of time you’ll spend blow drying your hair. Great for blow drying “fine hair” and adding lift to the scalp.

(5) Round Brush: These come in different diameters. Use a round brush with natural bristles. Smaller brushes add more curl while larger brushes add more volume.

My recommendation is an Ionic or Ceramic brush.
