Hair Color Ideas

So it’s time to find the right hair color ideas for you and your hair ! “ALWAYS” see your stylist for color; you don’t want to mess it up.

(1) Always have an idea as to what you want for your hair before going to see your hairstylist

(2) If you don’t have an idea your hairstylist may do what "they" want and that may not be what you’re looking for

(3) Whether you have very short hair, short hair, medium hair, long hair, curly hair, emo hair, crazy hair, punk hair, male hair or womens hair. Every detail goes into the thought process of what color or colors your should have

(4) Most people should realize that color plays a large role in the design of your haircut

(5) Color can help create texture and lines

The Hair Colors You Use

Lighter colors are more youthful and exciting

Darker colors are more seductive and mysterious

Warm colors tend to be soft

Cool colors are bold and dramatic

Creating Dimension

Light & warm colors create the illusion of volume

Dark & cool colors create the illusion of less volume

When creating the illusion of dimension or depth you want to blend warm and cool colors with light and dark

Choosing Color

Choosing the right hair color for you that will compliment your skin is important.

If you have gold tones in your skin you want warm colors (not cool tones) If you’re looking for something ‘attention-grabbing” or “trendy, you can choose a larger variety of different colors

(1) Have an idea as to what you want before going to see your stylist. If you are going to someone you’ve been going to for a while and trust them to do what they think will look best on you.
(2) If you don’t have an idea your stylist (if he/she is new to you) may do what they want and that may not be what you’re looking for.
(3) Whether you have very short hair, short hair, medium hair, long hair, curly hair, emo hair, crazy hair, punk hair, male hair or women’s hair. Every detail goes into the thought process of what color or colors your should have.
(4) Most people should realize that color plays a large role into the design of your new haircut and style.
(5) Color can help create texture, balance, and lines to create that soft or dramatic effect you’re looking for. Color can do amazing things for your hair and face..

Upkeep

The really trendy styles like chunks, bold (un-natural) colors, and colors that are completely different than your natural hair (Black on blonde or vice-versa) is typically every 4 weeks, particularly on emo styles and colors.

Maintenance

All over color – 4 to 6 weeksHighlights – 8 to 12 weeksAll over & Highlights (at the stylists discretion)Bleach Retouch (all over) – 4 weeks Maintenance also depends on how fast or slow your hair grows

Fading Reds

With every shampoo, blow dry, perm, exposure to sun, chlorine or salt water, the artificial hair color oxidizes and fades.

Have your stylist use the lowest developer to achieve the best red for you.

For warmer or brighter reds on darker hair, pre-lighting before applying your red has it’s advantages.Be careful that your stylist doesn’t pre-lighten too much… it will cause the opposite effect, causing your hair to look dull, flat and the color will not last.

Tip: For at home hair maintenance, don’t shampoo for about 2 days after coloring (this applies only to red hair)
