Okay so it’s not the end of the world, it is just a really big headache to deal with.

What you need to know about hair lice !

- most people believe if your child has head lice, they must be dirty..

- this is NOT true

- actually lice likes clean, healthy heads

- lice doesn’t jump, they’re transferred from touching

- using the same hair brush, hats, pillows, etc.

- keep heat away from the head when you know lice is there

- the heat will hatch the eggs (nits)

- lice can’t live without a human

- the bottom of the nape is usually the first place they migrate to

How to get rid of lice !

- start by buying an over the counter treatment; if that doesn’t work get a prescription treatment

- follow the directions on the treatment; then start on the house

- if you don’t want to use chemicals; use olive oil

- bag all the toys with hair (this will suffocate the lice)

- leave them in the garage or outside for 2 days to a 1 week

- vacuum everything “literally” from ceiling to floor to your car; you never know where they could be hiding

- wash the bedding, pillows, clothes and towels

- soak all your combs and brushes in hot soapy water for at least 20 minutes (you can never be too careful)

Again you can never be too careful, so continue to check your child’s hair for the next month.
