She feels as beautifull as J-Lo
I have always been interested in the beauty industry for as long as I can remember! Hair care became a major part of my life when I moved to the state of Maine, and was pregnant with my first child, who would be considered Mulatto! That’s when I realized there were allot of children living in the state, which where not necessarily of the Caucasian race and their hair was being neglected. The majority of these children have white parents, who just didn't have the knowledge or patience to do their children’s hair.
When I was a student in Cosmetology school, I had the opportunity to work on a little girl whose mom had died, and her father had custody of her. He just had no idea of how to do a little girls hair, let alone a little girl whose hair texture was completely different form his own! He told me that he did his best to make sure her hair was combed regularly, but if their where areas that where to hard to comb he just cut them out!
My heart started to feel great sympathy for these children. Being minorities, possibly the only black person in their school or even their town. The disconnection of feeling there is no one they can relate too!
That’s when I committed my self to make a difference in the self-esteem of these children! I would not allow my own children to have low self-esteem about their appearance, and I don't think any other child should ever carry that burden. Children should always feel comfortable, in their own skin, wherever they reside!
Although I have a deep heart felt passion for adopted children of the Black race and/or Hispanic ethnicity I love to cut, color, perm, and style hair for all back grounds, men, women and children. This is my story, thank you for the opportunity to share it!
