There are definitely simple things to be aware of when you're going to the salon to visit your stylist, get your hairstyled or cut, or to just go for a day of beauty.
1. Turn off the cell phones, blackberry’s and laptops. Unless you’re showing them a picture it’s rude to be on your device while getting your hair done.. (Unless you’re processing during a chemical service) If you have to have them on, put them on vibrate so it doesn’t disturb other clients in the salon.
2. Be on time (important rule of hair salon etiquette) If you are more then 10-15 minutes late you will have to reschedule if the stylist is busy. It’s not fair for the next client to have to wait.
3. As a courtesy cancel before 24 hours of your hair appointment if you can help it (last minute cancellations are viewed upon negatively)
4. Please don’t arrive for your appointment sick, coughing, under the weather etc. You don’t want to pass on any germs or get anyone else sick. In this case it’s ok to cancel at last minute. Stay home and reschedule when you’re better.
5. Your appointment should be enjoyable.. Working on a laptop, reading a magazine or even crossing your legs can leave a new haircut unbalanced because of how your body is positioned while you’re reading or working so please avoid that
6. If you want to just sit and not talk that’s not a problem and your hair stylist will not be offended
7. Leave children at home or with a sitter if possible. Not all salons are kid friendly. If they are and you bring them, keep an eye on them and don’t let them run wild and possibly break something. Before booking an appointment check with the salon about the rules and policies in regards to bringing your children with you.
8. If you don’t like your hair before you leave the hair salon tell your hairstylist so you can get it fixed. There is no reason to leave for 4-8 weeks wearing a style that you don’t like at all.
9. No animals/pets
10. This one's easy.. just sit back and relax while you're there and enjoy being pampered
